Undoubtedly her parents, for various reasons. Her father taught her the importance and value of Bug-type Pokémon while her mother showed her all the magnificent and wonderful feats that supposedly weak and inferior Pokémon were able to accomplish when shown enough love and care.What's their greatest regret?
By far her greatest regret would be that she had to trade away the first Pokémon that she managed to catch after moving to the Johto region. The Caterpie that she one day encountered in a forest was too scared to fight in any battles and had stage fright which prevented it from taking part in any Contests - weakening any other Pokémon to replace it with was obviously out of the question as well.What were their hobbies growing up?

BACKSTORYShe has spend her younger years in her hometown of Lilycove City, Hoenn. While the City lacked a Gym for her father to test his skills in, it housed a Contest Hall which her mother quickly took a vast liking to.Ann herself, being a avid fan of Gym battles and Contest performances alike, used her free time to watch either of her parents practice and hone their skills in their respective fields. During her time in Hoenn she attended the Pokémon Trainer's School located in Rustboro City. While it was a quite the distance away from her hometown, she didn´t mind the daily bus ride to and from the school - in fact, she often found herself daydreaming for the entirety of the trip.While she was studying, she always dreamed of one day entering Roxxane´s Gym to have a proper Gym battle after hearing so much about it in theory, alas that wouldn´t come to pass.A few years before Ann could graduate and get her Trainer License, her parents decided to move to the Johto region, thus forcing her to receive the last few years of her education needed to become a proper Pokémon Trainer in Earl´s Pokémon Academy in Violet City.However, not all about that decision was bad. While she had to adjust to the unfamiliar region, she managed to befriend and later catch a Caterpie - which unfortunately came with it´s own `can of worms´ for her to deal with. The Caterpie in question suffered from severe stage fright and froze up whenever it was sent out to perform in front of an audience.Battling other Pokémon to evolve and potentially get more confident in their own abilities was sadly met with similarly lackluster results.Desperate and out of options, Ann opted to trade Caterpie away to ensure that the little guy would have a suitable home while she´d hopefully receive a starter that was more similar to herself. As luck would have it, a former classmate of hers happened to pass by Route 30 after just having gotten his very own starter in the form of a Rattata in Cherrygrove City.He and his travelling companion had found and captured a Weedle on their way and he agreed to trade the feisty, little Pokémon for her own Bug-type. While they were in the area, Ann inquired if she could accompany the duo to Azalea Town to finally met the Bug-type specialist Bugsy - her role model at the time.While the duo continued on their journey after Raul had gotten his second Gym Badge from Bugsy, Ann found the courage within herself to ask Bugsy if she´d join his Gym as one of his Gym Trainers - the nearby Ilex Forest with its abundance of Bug-types only further cemented that wish of hers.Over the next few months, she´d not only beat Bugsy during one of their sparring matches, resulting in him handing her the Hive Badge, but also capture multiple Pokémon to add to her team.With her heart still beating anxiously in her chest after an exciting battle, Bugsy suggested the Badge Quest to her, seeing as she already had one of the 8 required Badges to enter the Pokémon League.With the encouraging words of Bugsy and her fellow Gym Trainers still ringing in her ears, she made her way towards Violet City to confront Falkner in battle!
